Gita is a compassionate Bernese Mountain Dog that was adopted by a loving family. When Kylie, another dog in Gita’s pack, was getting on in years, she showed telltale signs that she was nearing her final days. Gita stayed by her side, comforting her until she was ready to go.

Soon after, another pack member named Lady got sick. Again, Gita stayed with her every moment to keep her company. But her unwavering empathy was taking a toll on Gita, seeing her best mates pass away one by one. Once Lady crossed The Rainbow Bridge, Gita was the only dog left. After losing Lady, Gita went into a deep depression. Her grief scared her mom, especially when Gita refused to go on walks.

Meredith knew she had to do something. She started filling out applications to bring a new dog home. They found a little puppy who needed a home that they named Weller. When Gita and Weller were first introduced, Gita had no idea what to do with the little creature. She needed a friend but was unsure if Weller was the right fit. But amazingly, the puppy sensed Gita’s sadness and made it his mission to cheer her up even if he had to work to win her over.

Weller didn’t just love his new sister, he was obsessed with her! He followed her everywhere and even laid on top of her when Gita was sleeping. Weller wanted to play constantly and Gita wasn’t always in the mood. She would get frustrated when Weller wouldn’t leave her be, and give him warning barks… but then that all changed!

To see what Weller did next for his beloved sister, watch the video below. Dogs are miraculous creatures! Thank you, Meredith, for sharing this wonderful story!
