“In A Perfect World, Every Dog Would Have A Home and Every Home Would Have A Dog.”
However this world is far from perfect. There’s an increasing number of homeless dogs and not every home deserves a dog either. Dogs have to be rescued from “homes” that are abusive and negligent, and they end up at the shelter.
It’s a sad fact that not all dogs get to experience what it’s like to live in a normal home where they are safe and comfortable.
However this shelter has built a special room so dogs who are lonely or stressed can feel what it’s like to have a home.

The Toledo Area Humane Society built this homey space because they know that when a dog gets rescued and placed in a shelter where it’s noisy and a little cramped, it can be traumatic for them. So the dogs get to spend some time in this special room to calm them down and relax.

The room has a dog bed, a rug, a TV, some pillows, toys, a recliner seat, and a lamp for warm lighting. They designed it like how normal living rooms are.

According to Jessica LaValley, the annual fund manager of the Toledo Area Humane Society, the room doesn’t only help the dogs relax, but it also helps the shelter staff understand the dog’s behavior and how they would do in a real home.
