This Themed Hotel Chain Welcomes Dogs & Doesn’t Charge A Pet Fee

| Published on December 1, 2017

If you’re looking for a dog-friendly hotel chain that’s more than just another drab room that looks exactly the same no matter what city you’re in, you should check out Graduate Hotels. Each Graduate Hotel looks unique and is tailored specifically to the college town it’s situated in, with individual education-themed touches throughout. They have no pet fees, and each dog is welcomed with a themed, complimentary BarkBox. Each dog is greeted in the room with a blanket for use during their stay (which pet parents may purchase if they wish when their stay is over), and a chalkboard bowl with their name written on it.

Pets are usually kept in rooms on the 4th floor, which is the lowest floor with guest rooms on it, just in case they’re afraid of the elevator (and so that guests can request rooms that never have dogs in them if they’re worried about allergies).

The American Foxhound is Virginia’s state dog.

According to their website:

“To be a Graduate is to be part of a well-curated, well-crafted collection of hotels that reside in the most dynamic University towns across the country. Every site and property celebrates and commemorates the youthful optimism of school days and cultivates the spirit of each community in a bright new way.”

There are currently Graduate Hotels in Ann Arbor, MI; Athens, GA; Berkeley, CA; Charlottesville, VA; Lincoln, NE; Madison, WI; Minneapolis, MN; Oxford, MS; Richmond, VA; and Tempe, AZ. Future locations are planned for Iowa City, IA; Seattle, WA; and New Haven, CT. To learn more, check out their website.
