iHeartDogs works closely with GreaterGood by donating part of each sale to their various charity efforts. One of the charities, Rescue Bank, works to donate quality dog food to shelters and rescues who are in need. Sly’s unsteady past led to a fearful view of the future and caused him to be uneasy around those who wanted to offer him love. Thanks to you, Sly was finally able to gain the confidence he needed to find his forever home!
Sly got his second chance at life when he made his way from a Texas shelter to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. It was there that he was rescued by the Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan group, and was accepted into their prison training system.
Refurbished Pets works with the Lakeland Correctional facility to help rehabilitate prisoners through the companionship of canine friends, and grants them the task of teaching these pups basic obedience. Through this program they are able to socialize nervous dogs, as well as give them the confidence they crave through a well-rounded training program.
When Sly first began his training program at the prison, he was extremely fearful and often cowered away from those who tried to offer him help. Once he was able to gain trust in his handlers and realize that he was finally in loving hands, he was able to begin agility training that was designed specifically for dogs that need a confidence boost.
Sly did so well in his training program that he was able to pass with flying colors and be placed in a loving foster home until he found his forever family. With the skills he learned with the Refurbished Pets team on his side, he was able to find the fur parents of his dreams!

Sly is finally living his life to the fullest, and spending all his free time exploring the great outdoors with his forever family.
