We are all thankful for everything our dogs give us every day – from love to laughter. So, it’s nice to give or do something for them that’s special every once in a while as a way of saying “thanks for all you do for me.” Here are 10 ways you can say “thanks” to your dog this Thanksgiving. Are you doing something special for your pup this year? Tell us in the comments!
#1 – Give him a special treat
Buy or make your dog a special treat this Thanksgiving, like a pupcake, as a thank you.
#2 – Take her shopping for a toy
Getting a toy is great, getting to pick it out yourself is even better.

#3 – Take him on an extra walk
This one costs nothing but will make your dog happy. This Thanksgiving, walk off that big meal by taking your best friend on an extra walk.
#4 – Adopt a Friend
If you think you and your dog are ready, a new friend can be a great way to say “thank you” to the dog who has always been there for you. Now, he won’t be alone when you go to work. Some rescues are even doing Black Friday deals, so it might just be the right time.

#5 – Take time to do a dog sport
If you have a highly active dog that calmly waits for you each day and even sits on the couch all evening (though he would rather be out running around) thank him for his good manners by enrolling in a dog sport class such as agility, flyball or even canine freestyle. You will have fun too!
#6 – Learn canine massage
Who doesn’t love a massage? Learning how to do this for your dog is a great way to thank him for all he does.

#7 – Have a dog date day
Spend a day of your upcoming vacation just with your dog! Maybe you stay home and snuggle or play ball, or take a day trip to his favorite park or beach. Dogs really do appreciate a day with their favorite person.
#8 – Put him/her in your will
Have you thought about what happens to the dog that gives you everything should something happen to you first? However unlikely you feel it may be, you should make sure your dog is provided for. Some things to think about: signed agreements that someone will take him; a trust in your dogs’ name with a person to oversee it; or an agreement with a sanctuary to take your dog with a donation to help pay for his care.
#9 – Bring her on vacation
This year, bring her with you on your holiday, instead of leaving her with a sitter or at a boarding kennel. She will appreciate the extra time with her family.
#10 – Finally buy that expensive dog bed
Have you been eying a nice orthopedic bed but haven’t made the plunge? Now’s the time! With most pet stores having Black Friday deals, it’s a great time to thank your dog for being all he is with a nice new bed. And, as he ages, it will help ease any joint discomfort, an even better gift to your best friend.
