12 Ways To Show Your Dog You Appreciate Them

| Published on June 4, 2015

He listens to you talk about your bad day, watches whatever show you want to watch, let’s you use him as a pillow and even snuggles – all without complaint. No, he’s not the world best boyfriend, he’s your four-legged best friend, your dog, and it’s time to thank him for all the ways he makes your life better.

#1 – Give Him Extra Time at the Dog Park

Just like a kid at a playground, she will love some extra time at the dog park.

Have stored up vacation days you need to use? Take a day and just hang out with your dog – maybe you walk to the nearest coffee shop or play a long game of fetch in the backyard.

#7 – Take a Real Vacation

Does your dog love camping, a trip to the beach, or maybe a four-star hotel in downtown Manhattan? Going on a trip with your dog can be a great way to spend extra time with your best friend and show him how much he means to you. After all, nothing says love like room service, right?

#8 – Buy Him a New Bed

Does his bed look a little ratty? Buy your best friend a bed he will love as a way of appreciating all those time he let you hold him until you feel asleep, even when he was hot.

#9 –Have Her Friends Over

If your doggy has a lot of doggy friends, invite them over for a playdate. She will definitely feel appreciated while you let her and her friends drool, shed, and run all over the house.

#11 – Find Time for Extra Attention

Even if you are super busy, just take an extra five minutes and give your dog some undivided attention (yup, that means no cellphone!). Dogs notice if they have your attention or not and they will enjoy some quality time with just you.

#12 –Spa Day

Some pups don’t want a day at the dog park, an extra walk (eww, wet grass?!), or friends over (share my toys?!), but they just love being pampered. For these pups, give them a spa day to show them just how much you appreciate them.
