15 Year Old Dog Tossed In Garbage Is Rescued And Now Needs A Home

| April 18, 2015

Last Thursday a local rescue group, Defense of Animals (Defaniva) near Valladolid, Spain received a frantic call from a neighborhood group. The group had already called the police because they had heard screams coming from an underground waste container, the rescue’s Facebook page accounts. The group believed someone had cast an unwanted litter of dogs into the locked disposal bin.  When the police were unable to open it, they fire department was called in to break it open. No one was expecting what they found. One lone senior dog had been stuck in a garbage bag that was double-knotted (so no chance of escape) and then dumped in the locked garbage can. The rescue believe the dog, now named Abu, is 15-years-old.

“We will not ever cease to be amazed by human evil,” says the rescue group. Abu was taken to the vet for a complete exam.

Thankfully, no broken bones. But, he was full of ticks, in a state of extreme malnutrition, and was almost to the point of hypothermia.

And then of course, a grooming.

The community who heard his cries gave money to help with his care.

Abu is thought to be completely deaf and he does have cataracts in both eyes. Defaniva is hoping to find him a loving home to live out the rest of this days, however brief they may be.

To adopt Abu, go to their site.

Currently, there are no leads in the case. Since he was not micro-chipped, there was no way to trace his owner and none of the neighbors that helped with his rescue recognized him.
