Chateau La Paws – Diageo Chateau & Estate’s top selling innovation wine brand – promotes a love for delicious wines and helping rescue dogs find their forever homes.
With three varietals, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Red Wine Blend, Chateau La Paws™ Wines are perfect for pairing with everyday meals, enjoying while spending time with your best friends or sharing with fellow dog lovers. However, with a mission to help the thousands of rescue dogs across the country find fur-ever homes, Chateau La Paws™ is more than great wine.
The Winemaker
Marty Spate is the winemaker at Diageo Chateau & Estate. He grew up with dogs on his family ranch and has early memories of playing and farming grapes with his Great Dane, Duke.
“When I left my family’s ranch, where we farmed grapes,” Spate told iHeartDogs.com. “I promised myself to never go back to working in the sand and dirt and sun.”
However, years later he found himself in a cellar as a winemaker. For the past 16 years, Spate has been making wines, including several collaborative projects that have taken him around the world. For Marty, Chateau La Paws Wines is a homage to that journey – a journey that ultimately takes us back home to the comfort of our loyal dogs.
The grapes that make Chateau La Paws varietals are sourced from several of the best vineyards across California. Chateau La Paws is vinted and bottled by Rosenblum Cellars in Sonoma, CA which has been in operation since 1978.
A Mission To Help Dogs In Need
NSALA is the country’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization with both national and local rescue partners providing scale and reach to the partnership. NSALA has an unwavering commitment to rescuing, nurturing and adopting animals across the country. It is a collaborative organization that’s built a national network of shelter and rescue partners committed to the same cause of rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need, so they may one day find their own permanent chateau.
“NSALA’s no-kill efforts and emphasis on education and advocacy align seamlessly with our passion points at Chateau La Paws Wines – we love our furry friends just as much as we love our wine,” says Chateau La Paws.
As a testament to this, their wine labels feature rescue dogs from NSALA.
“We worked closely with NSALA to identify the 28 rescue dogs featured on the label of each varietal,” says Chateau La Paws. “Our goal was to assemble a varied mix of breeds and ages to showcase the expansive selection of loveable pets that may be available in shelters across the country.”
The amazing photographs were taken by the talented Carli Davidson (check out her SHAKE photos), with the help of animal behaviorist Amanda Giese.
“It is our hope that all 28 rescue dogs included on our labels find a permanent chateau of their own through this endeavor,” Chateau La Paws says.
Effie & Bowser
Two of the dogs on the wine labels are still, in fact, looking for their forever home! Effie is featured on their Chardonnay bottle and has been awaiting her forever home for over a year and Bowser is an adorable pit mix featured on thier Sweet Red Blend label.
In addition to featuring rescues on the wine labels, Chateau La Paws donated $100,000 to NSALA. Chateau La Paws continues to support NSALA through awareness- support at their adoption events, product donations, partnership around their annual gala etc.
