Shopping online just keeps growing in popularity. But that also means boxes. Lots and lots and LOTS of boxes. What do you do with your boxes? I know I have a huge pile in my garage…for when I move someday perhaps? Or they get taken to the recycling, which is great.
But, what if the box your goods came in was something more?

N11.com is a an online retailer based in Turkey who contributes to the e-trade sector with its innovative activities.
Their newest endeavor includes turning their delivery boxes into portable homes for street animals.

The special boxes were designed to especially endure cold weather conditions and were produced after approximately a year of Research and Development efforts. From now on, shoppers who order pet food on n11.com will be contributing to providing street dogs and cats with a home.

“Every street animal will find itself a home under the hardest and harshest winter conditions,” the company says.
Explaining that the “Pet Boxes” project converting delivery boxes into “homes” took the length of a year to complete and incurred a substantial cost, n11.com Marketing Assistant General Manager Bilgen Aldan Albayrak said,
“We started the Pet Box project with the idea that shoppers could recycle the delivery boxes sent to them at the delivery of their goods for a good cause. As n11.com, this was the kernel for the idea and over the next year, we worked on the design of these boxes. We worked with the awareness of our responsibility to the community and its street animals without at all dwelling on time spent or cost.”

The project will be expanded
n11.com Marketing Assistant General Manager Bilgen Aldan Albayrak added that e-trade had a huge potential in Turkey and that social responsibility projects could also be carried out through this channel. Commenting that the Pet Box project was just a starting project for n11.com, Albayrak continued,
“We launched the Pet Box project in the light of the need for shelter that street animals have in the cold weather and this way, we are also recycling thousands of boxes that would otherwise wind up in the garbage. Contributing to the project for now will be possible while shopping for pet food on the n11.com campaign page.
In the period ahead, we plan to expand this project and work to differentiate it. Our hope is that this project that we started at n11.com will turn into a community effort.”

As part of the project, shoppers purchasing 10 kilograms (roughly 22 lbs) or more of the pet foods advertised on the n11.com campaign page will be able to create shelters for street animals by easily turning the delivery boxes into animal homes.
