Derby, the Husky, was born with deformities in his front legs that affected his ability to walk and run. Despite being rescued by a shelter, his limited mobility made it challenging for him to be adopted. Moreover, he would hurt himself while trying to move around like other dogs at the shelter.

Derby faced difficulty in finding appropriate prosthetics due to his uniquely twisted legs. Even using a wheelchair did not yield fruitful results. The shelter workers had given up hope for him, but then Tara Anderson from “3D Systems” came into his life!

Tara was deeply affected by Derby’s condition and made a decision to assist him in achieving self-sufficiency. She offered to take charge of fostering him and assembled a team at 3D Systems to explore different possibilities for providing Derby with his own prosthetic legs. After various design trials on the computer, the team finally zeroed in on a model that would fit Derby perfectly!

I was impressed by Derby’s experience with 3D prosthetics. The technology allowed him to walk and run again, and the prosthetics were customized to fit his height and size. At first, Derby received prosthetics with a low height, which gradually increased to his ideal height. It’s heartwarming to know that after receiving his “3D legs,” Derby was adopted by a compassionate couple. This sweet pooch is living his dream life now – all thanks to technology and some big-hearted humans!
