This time of year, it’s nice to pause and think about the good things that have happened – there is so much bad out there, it’s easy to feel depressed otherwise. One of the best ways to start feeling good about humanity is to look at these amazing transformations of dogs that were rescued by kindhearted souls. Some of them you just won’t believe are the same dog! You can help by donating or volunteer with a local shelter or rescue.

#1 – Tootsie

This little poodle was found scared, hungry, injured, and incredibly matted before being rescued…

Just look at her now! You can see her video made by the World Animal Awareness Society here.

#2 – Buddha

This poor little dog was beaten and poisoned before being rescued by The Animal Hope And Wellness Foundation. Now, Buddha is safe, his wounds healed. We just hope his soul continues to heal as well.

#3 – Suzie

Suzie was seized by the Pennsylvania SPCA in August 2015. She had a badly embedded metal chain collar in her neck – it had probably never been taken off her in the three years she lived tethered outside. She also had a skin condition that caused hair loss.

The embedded chain required immediately surgery to remove – it was one of the worst the shelter had ever seen. But just look at her now! You can watch her video here.

#4 –  Phee

Phee (originally named Oreo), was on the euthanasia list at the NY Animal Care & Control facility in Manhattan, New York.  He was pulled in the nick of time by Short Noses Only Rescue Team (SNORT) but they really thought he was at death’s door – he had lost most his fur, was emaciated, had an infected eye and could not even hold his bowels. Now, however, he is a stunning example of a Boston Terrier and enjoying the good life! Read his full story here.

#5 – Caitlyn

Caitlyn is the dog whose graphic image of her muzzle taped shut with duct tape (her tongue trapped sticking out, clenched between her teeth) has garnered national attention. Her transformation has been incredible and so has the outpouring of support by people who want the public to know this is obviously abuse and should not be tolerated. After several surgeries, just look at her smile now!

#6 – Shirley Temple

Shirley Temple was brought in to the Pennsylvania SPCA with her mom and littermates. They were dropped off because they were “pink.”

In reality, they had an extreme case of mange – Shirley being the worst of the bunch. It took a while for her to recover, but now she is happy, healthy, and living in her forever home!

#7 – Cedar

Cedar was named after the Golf Course he was found nearby. Almost hairless and terribly skinny, he was taken in by Paaws Antigua.

Cedar was named after the Golf Course close to where he was waiting to be picked-up by ????? Hairless by stress.

You are NOT going to believe this is the same dog, now living in the lap of luxury!

Cedar has found a posh home, good care, and he fits right in.

#8 – Coffee

Another dog rescued by Paaws Antigua, when he was found, there was little hope…

Coffee found his last resort on a holiday weekend when no other doors were open. He had a sparkle in his eye and wagged his tail. There was hope

Just look at him one month later – it’s amazing what good care can do in such a short time!

Coffee after one months feeding and dips. Said he liked the place and still does. Check our video story of Coffee.

#9 – Obie

Another dog who attracted national attention is Obie, the severely obese dachshund. When he was rescued in 2012 he weighed 77 pounds – three times his ideal weight. In just one year, Obie had lost 50 pounds and he has maintained a 54 pound weight loss since fall 2013. You can follow him on Facebook.

This is what an extra 55lbs looks like. Debilitating. Obie seems quite happy with his new life.

#10 – ISA

Isa was rescued from the side of a road in August 2012 by Paaws Antigua. Just skin and bones, she was eating whatever she could to stay alive.

ISA was seen on the Potworks roadside at dinner time a couple of days before she came to the shelter in August 2012

Just five months later, look at her!
