With their amiable personality, boundless energy, and that unmistakable mop of hair, Old English Sheepdogs (OES) are truly one of a kind. If you’re an OES owner, these eight ‘problems’ will have you nodding (and laughing) in agreement.

1. The Hair! Everywhere!

OES owners know that owning this breed is a hair-raising experience – quite literally. Their beautiful, shaggy coat sheds everywhere and all the time. Say hello to your new best friend: the vacuum cleaner.

2. Size Does Matter.

Old English Sheepdogs are big. And they don’t always realize this. Prepare for ‘lapdog’ cuddles from your large and lovable friend who doesn’t understand the concept of personal space.

3. The ‘Sheep’ in Sheepdog.

True to their name, OES love to herd. Anything. Children, other pets, and sometimes even you. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself being gently nudged along a ‘path’ by your diligent dog.

4. High-Energy Hijinks.

OES are full of energy. Long walks? Yes, please. Fetch? Absolutely. An impromptu run around the yard for no reason? You bet. As an OES owner, you’ve basically signed up for a furry gym membership.

5. The Woolly Bear.

With their fluffy coat and round bodies, OES often get mistaken for bears, especially by startled mailmen or delivery people. It’s all fun and games until you have to explain it to the frightened pizza delivery guy.

6. The Weather-Proof Dog.

Rain, snow, or shine – nothing stops an OES from their outdoor adventure. Get ready for a wet dog smell in your house during the rainy season and having to de-ice your furry friend during winter.

7. The Bark.

OES have a powerful bark. While this can be a good thing when it comes to guarding your house, it’s not so great when they decide to hold a barking conversation with the dog next door at 7 AM.

8. The Eye-Searching Expedition.

Grooming an OES often feels like an expedition in search of the eyes. Thanks to their shaggy coat, you’ll be parting a sea of fur just to get a glimpse of those beautiful eyes.

In spite of these humorous ‘problems’, owning an Old English Sheepdog is a joyful and rewarding experience. Their playful nature, loyal temperament, and fluffy antics more than makeup for the vacuuming, the herding, and the early morning barking. Every hair found in your cup of coffee, and every fur-covered piece of clothing is a badge of honor for the OES owner. Because, let’s face it, life would be so dull without these furballs of happiness.
