In Camden, New Jersey, a city notorious for underground dog fighting rings, a severely wounded and frightened dog was discovered in an abandoned house. The dog, later named Pacino, was brought to an animal hospital where a compassionate vet tech would change his life forever.

Pacino was found cowering in a crate, covered in severe wounds. It was suspected that he had been used as a bait dog, a cruel practice in which less aggressive dogs are used for dogs to practice fighting on. The doctor and animal control had decided to euthanize Pacino, but the vet tech, who had been working at the animal hospital, saw something in him that made her believe he was not too aggressive to be saved.

In a heartwarming moment, Pacino looked up at the vet tech and licked her face, despite the immense pain he was in. This act of trust and affection convinced her to take full financial responsibility for Pacino’s care. She would also foster him, nurse him back to health, and eventually find him a forever home.

On the ride to his new temporary home, Pacino seemed to sense that he was safe and slept the entire way. His recovery was surprisingly quick. His foster family had to teach him everything from potty training to walking on a leash. They also had to introduce him to toys and help him learn how to be a normal dog.

Pacino’s trust in his new family allowed them to provide the care he needed, and his wounds began to heal. As his true personality emerged, it became clear that he was a goofy, clumsy, and incredibly sweet dog who was eager to please. Once his foster family saw his true disposition, they knew they couldn’t let him go.

Now, Pacino is a beloved family member who is not aggressive at all. He loves everyone he meets, including babies, children, and the elderly. He is also food-motivated and has a unique way of communicating his wants and needs with his big brown eyes.

Pacino recently celebrated his seventh “adopt-a-versary.” His life now revolves around being a cherished and spoiled family pet. We are so grateful for the heroic vet tech who took a chance on Pacino and gave him the forever home he has always deserved!
