Rae, a Golden Retriever, has faced significant challenges from birth but has turned them into a unique charm, earning her the nickname “Unicorn.” Rae is now a sensation on social media with over 222,000 Instagram followers and millions of TikTok views. Born with a critical injury that caused the loss of one ear, Rae underwent major surgery just hours after coming into the world at Family Friends Veterinary Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Despite the uncertainty surrounding her future, Rae miraculously recovered, with her remaining ear eventually moving to the top of her head when her face healed. She has a distinctive appearance that resembles a unicorn, making her magically adorable!
It was at the hospital where Rae found a permanent home with Brianna Vorhees, a receptionist at the facility, who had recently lost her previous Golden Retriever, Loki, to lymphoma. Feeling a deep connection with Rae, Brianna adopted her when she was just two days old and provided her with intensive care, including regular bottle feedings. Brianna had also just gone through a tumultuous divorce and was feeling low. But with the pup’s love, the woman prevailed and credits Rae with saving her life.
