TAMPA, Fla. — Recently released body camera footage has captured a touching moment where an officer from the Alachua Police Department saved a small kitten from a dangerous situation on a busy Florida highway.
The rescue took place last week when Officer Stanfield found a kitten lying in the middle of NW US Highway 441. This incident was discussed in a post on the department’s Facebook page.
The video shows the kitten in a risky spot on the road, narrowly avoiding passing cars. Officer Stanfield quickly intervened to save the kitten, with help from a driver at Mi Apa Latin Cafe. The driver used their truck to block traffic, making it safe for the officer to retrieve the kitten.
Following the rescue, the kitten found a new home with one of the department’s dispatchers, as announced in the police department’s Facebook post.
