Anna’s story highlights the unfair reality faced by black Pit Bulls, who are often overlooked due to harmful misconceptions. Despite her affectionate nature and gentle personality, Anna has spent over two years waiting for someone to give her a chance. During this time, she has watched countless other dogs find their forever homes, while she remains unnoticed and alone. Each passing day leaves her wondering why she isn’t good enough and what she might have done wrong.
Anna’s journey didn’t start well, either. She was rescued alongside her mother and brother after being found near a dumpster by Strong Paws Rescue (SPR) in New York. While her fawn-colored mom and brother were adopted quickly, Anna wasn’t so lucky. “Anna is a loving black Pit Bull who’s been waiting almost two years for her forever home,” SPR shared in a heartfelt Facebook post. “We welcomed her into our care as a young puppy when she was found outside of a dumpster with her mom and brother.”
After her siblings found their families, Anna remained alone, her days turning into months, and then years. In all this time, she’s had only one application—one that, sadly, didn’t work out. Anna’s journey has been defined by constant moves from one foster home to another. While foster families have given her temporary love and comfort, each relocation has been yet another heartbreak for Anna, making it harder for her to trust people quickly.
Her caregivers describe her as a truly special dog who just needs someone patient enough to let her shine. “She is great with dogs big and small and is a mix of playful and a cuddly couch potato,” the rescue explained. Anna has proven time and again that she gets along wonderfully with other dogs, making her a perfect companion for a multi-dog household.
Despite her incredible qualities, Anna continues to be passed over, often because of her color and breed. These misconceptions have left her in the shadows while others are chosen. Now, as 2024 comes to a close, Anna faces yet another move. Her current foster family can no longer keep her, and this would mark her eighth relocation in just two years.
“It’s just not fair for her to keep moving,” SPR wrote. “We really want to find her a permanent home…where she can finally feel safe, settled, and loved for good.” Anna’s caregivers know she deserves so much more than temporary love. She deserves a forever family—a place where she can finally settle in, feel secure, and give her unconditional love to those who choose her.
Anna has waited far too long for her happy ending. Whoever opens their heart to her won’t just be giving her a second chance—they’ll be gaining a devoted, gentle companion who has so much love to share. It’s time for Anna to find her forever home and leave the heartbreak of the past behind. She’s ready for her fresh start, and she’s more than worth it.
Let’s share Anna’s story to raise awareness of her plight. We have faith that she will find her forever family soon. To learn more about Anna and SPR, click here.
