In Northern Ireland, Kenny Gracey of Forthill Farm is crediting the success of his business — which nearly went under — to the hit show, Game Of Thrones!
The show, based in a fictional fantasy world, was in need of majestic animals for casting.
“It has been a great asset and a great saviour for our farm,” Gracey told Sky News. “Any of the background animals, the chickens, the goats, the geese, the dogs for instance or the deer … I’m supplying those.”
If you’re a fan of the show, you may recognize Odin and Thor, who play direwolves “Summer” and “Greywind” in the series. The Northern Inuit dogs made their on-screen debut as puppies, and fans now flock to the farm to see them.
Other canine co-stars include Irish Wolfhounds Hennessy and Murphy, big, shaggy gray dogs that are sure to make an impression!
Sky News also mentions that taxidermy wild animals — who died humanely — also get a “second life” when they’re featured on the show. The use of these animals has helped support another Northern Ireland business.
We just love that these beautiful animals are able to be admired by millions when they’re featured on Game Of Thrones. But even though they’re treated like stars, these furry actors won’t let the fame go to their heads!
