The beginning of Genesis’ life was marred by severe neglect. The beautiful Bloodhound spent up to 22 hours a day trapped in her crate without any attention or chance at socialization. Her poor treatment caused Genesis to develop heartworm disease and behaviorial issues including kennel aggression. When she arrived at Dog Saver Animal Rescue in Washington, Missouri she was extremely thin and her spirit was broken.

Genesis’ rescuers began the difficult task of returning her to health – in body and soul. She endured the long, painful process of heartworm treatment and the even longer journey of learning to trust humans.

Today, Genesis is nearly unrecognizable from the pitiful pooch she once was. She is heartworm free and at a healthy weight for her size. Best of all, she has been adopted into a loving family with a beautiful Irish Wolfhound sister!

This sweet girl’s transformation was made possible by her dedicated rescuers, GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank program, and wonderful folks like you who make their contributions possible!

Dog Saver is one of the many shelters across the country that receives donated food from Rescue Bank. By providing balanced nutrition to homeless pets, they allow shelter staff to channel funds that would otherwise go toward food into vital areas like veterinary care.

According to Dog Saver:

“If it weren’t for Rescue Bank, we would not be able to do what we do. Thanks to them we can give animals like Genesis, who have been given a horrible start in life, a chance at happiness and a forever home. We can feed our rescues, who in many cases have been severely neglected in the past. They also help us, as a small non-profit rescue, be able to afford more extended vetting like heartworm treatment. Being able to help animals is what brings us joy and thanks to Rescue Bank we can do this, and for that, we are incredibly thankful.”
