In a brazen early morning theft on November 21, a group of masked men broke into Top Dog Pet Store in Gardena, Southern California, and made off with a dozen French bulldogs valued at over $100,000. The heist, which has sparked a police search for suspects, was captured on the store’s security cameras, showing the thieves forcefully entering the store and hurriedly loading the dogs into a large white van.

Andres Avalos, the owner of the pet store, recounted the chilling details to KTLA, describing how the suspects “grabbed the cages, dragged them out and tossed them into the van like they were stuffed animals.” Among the stolen dogs was “Roll X,” a 10-month-old show dog, adding to the significant loss. The thieves also stole $2,000 from the store’s cash register.

The financial impact of the theft is substantial for Avalos, who explained that the dogs are used for breeding, forming a crucial part of his livelihood. Despite the financial blow, Avalos expressed more concern for the well-being of the dogs, offering a monetary reward for information leading to their safe return.
