A dog in India will be remembered for being loyal to the end for sacrificing his life to save his family.
As four cobras slithered toward the home of a family of eight in Sebekapur village in India, an intrepid Doberman fought the four vicious snakes all on his own, a battle that reportedly lasted “for hours” according to the Deccan Chronicle (warning: article in link contains graphic image).
Because of the Dobie’s bravery, the snakes did not get into the house and the family remained safe. Amazingly, the pup was able to slaughter them all–until finally, he collapsed himself. The hero dog died from the venomous blows he received during the fight.
“I’m shocked. He has made the supreme sacrifice for me and my family. I will remember him till our death. I pray God – May his soul rest in peace,” said owner Dibakar Raita in the story.
Although the dog’s name was not mentioned in the article, his story is now well-known by fellow villagers. They gathered to lay him to rest, adorning him with flowers and wreaths to honor his heroism at his funeral.
It’s no wonder that Dobermans are known for their undying, protective loyalty. What an incredible story of the ultimate sacrifice. Rest in peace, brave boy.
