In South Jersey, a dramatic rescue unfolded when a dog named Daisy found herself in a peculiar and frightening predicament. The Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company, based in Gloucester County, New Jersey, shared a distressing account on Facebook detailing how Daisy had managed to wedge her head into a tire’s rim. Despite her owners’ best efforts using soap and water to liberate her, the task proved too challenging, prompting the intervention of both the fire company and the Franklin Township Police.

Austin Delano, Daisy’s owner, expressed his disbelief to NBC10, questioning the reality of the situation where his dog was trapped by a tire. This unusual incident occurred while the 11-month-old canine was exploring the garage, leading to a desperate call for help to the fire department when all attempts to free her failed.

Responding swiftly, the volunteer firefighters tried various methods, including lubrication with soap, water, and oil, but as Daisy’s condition began to deteriorate, evidenced by her red eyes and labored breathing, they realized the urgency of the situation. Assistant Chief Joe Szwed of the Franklinville Fire Company described the rescue as a “race against time,” highlighting the critical moment when Lt. Brandon Volpe proposed using plasma cutters as a last resort to rescue Daisy.

In a tense operation captured in a Facebook video by the police, Daisy and the tire were transported to Volpe’s garage, where the plasma cutter was prepared. Moments later, the dog was safely extricated from her confinement.

Miraculously, Daisy emerged from the ordeal unscathed and in good health. The community praised the firefighters for their dedication and resourcefulness in freeing Daisy. Austin Delano, moved by the firefighters’ commitment, announced his intention to apply as a volunteer firefighter, motivated by a newfound desire to contribute to his community and help others avoid similar predicaments.
