12-year-old Alanna Vaughn and her 10-year-old brother Izayah Savangvongsavanh were taking their new puppy for a walk in Milwaukee when a tragedy occurred. Two strangers stole their puppy at gunpoint, and she hasn’t been seen since.

The kids are heartbroken but uninjured after this intense theft. When interviewed, they said they’re doing okay, but they just want their dog back. Sadly, the robbers likely aren’t treating the puppy well, so she needs to be found as quickly as possible.

Puppy Stolen From Children

The family has a 4-month-old Pit Bull mix named Coco, who they’ve only had for a short amount of time. The two kids were walking Coco when they said a man approached them and asked questions about the puppy. He asked how old she is, what her name is, and if she bites, but the kids ignored him.

Then, the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at the children before stealing their dog. The devastated kids ran back home to tell their family. Ever since they’ve been glancing longingly at the dog’s empty crate.

“They pulled a gun on these little kids, innocent kids,” said Katrina Chester, the kids’ grandmother. “I was hysterical. It’s crazy, I mean real crazy.”

Officials described the two suspects as young adult males. They drove away in a four-door 2017 silver Infiniti Q50 with heavily tinted windows but haven’t been located yet.

Mixed Reactions to the Theft

Of course, stealing a dog is terrible, but it’s even worse that it was from two innocent children. However, when the Milwaukee Police Department posted about the event, not everyone was focused on the crime itself. Some believed the children shouldn’t have been walking the dog alone, but even if that were true, it’s no excuse to steal a dog.

Yet, others were quick to point out the elephant in the room: the badly cropped ears. However, we don’t know the whole story. Many dogs already have cropped ears when people adopt them, so there’s no reason to say mean things about the family. What’s most important right now is that their puppy is missing, and they want her back right away.

Sadly, Pit Bull puppies are often stolen for dogfighting, and if she isn’t spayed yet, she could be used for breeding. No dog deserves to go through that, so hopefully, the police will locate Coco before she gets hurt.

If you have any information about the theft, you can contact Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7272 or contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS to remain anonymous.
