Recreation Photos Honor The Friendship Of A Man & His Dog Over 15 Years

| Published on June 15, 2016

Thirty-year-old Gordon Delacroix and his dog, Birdy, have a long-standing tradition. In the same pose, wearing the same sweater–even with the same squinting expression–the man and his pup have taken pictures in front of his grandmother’s Belgian home three times. The first was when Birdy was a puppy, and Gordon a young man of 15; the second, 10 years later; and recently, a graying Birdy at age 15, still being held by a grown Gordon.

Unfortunately, Birdy has been diagnosed with cancer. Not knowing how much time they had left together, his human decided to take one final recreation picture to honor their friendship.

For now, the pup still feels well. “My old pal is still going strong,” writes Gordon on Reddit. “He could easily be great for another six months, but it’s also possible that he’ll get very sick again soon and this time for the last time,” he said in an article by Bored Panda. “It breaks my heart just to think about it, but we’ve had so many great years and adventures together. I’m grateful he was part of my life.”
