What Is the Steps of Hope Program?
Steps of Hope is a specialized rescue initiative created to help disabled, paralyzed, and severely injured shelter dogs reclaim their lives.
Many of these dogs have survived horrific abuse, traumatic accidents, or congenital disabilities. In overcrowded shelters, animals with extensive medical needs are often overlooked for adoption and face an uncertain future. Steps of Hope exists to change that by providing the funding needed for advanced veterinary care that would otherwise be out of reach.

- Dog wheelchairs and mobility devices
- Hydrotherapy and specialized physical rehabilitation

Specialized Care That Changes Lives
One of the most important parts of the Steps of Hope mission is transporting dogs to expert rehabilitation facilities that specialize in mobility recovery.
Many dogs travel to The Unstoppable Ranch in Temecula, California, where they receive custom prosthetic fittings, physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and ongoing rehabilitation designed specifically for dogs with limb loss or severe mobility challenges.
All donations are administered through Greater Good Charities, ensuring every contribution is properly managed and directed toward helping animals receive the medical care they desperately need.
Success Story: Mohga’s Incredible New Beginning
One of the most inspiring examples of what Steps of Hope can accomplish is Mohga, a brave survivor whose life was transformed through the generosity of iHeartDogs supporters.
After enduring unimaginable hardship, Mohga received the specialized medical care, rehabilitation, and prosthetic support needed to regain mobility and begin a brand new chapter. What once seemed impossible became reality because thousands of compassionate animal lovers came together to make it happen.
Today, Mohga’s journey stands as a powerful reminder that disabled dogs are not defined by what they’ve lost. With the right care, they can thrive.
Now We’re Helping Brooke and Clifford Take Their Next Steps
Today, the Steps of Hope community is rallying behind two more incredible survivors: Brooke and Clifford. Their stories are heartbreaking. Clifford survived unimaginable cruelty after all four of his legs were deliberately mutilated, along with his ears and tail. Brooke lost two of her legs after being thrown in front of a moving train as a puppy. The devastating injuries she suffered have affected her every day since.
Despite everything they’ve endured, both dogs continue to greet people with trust, resilience, and an incredible will to live. Thanks to iHeartDogs supporters, the cost of their custom prosthetic legs has already been funded. Now they need help reaching the next chapter of their recovery.
Brooke and Clifford are preparing to travel from Egypt to The Unstoppable Ranch in California, where they’ll be fitted with their new prosthetic limbs, begin intensive physical therapy, and learn to walk again.
