When people can barely afford to feed themselves, how do they keep their cats and dogs fed?

St Hubert’s Animal Welfare in Madison, NJ, aims to keep families from having to ask such a question thanks to cat and dog food donations from The Rescue Bank. They know times are tough and want to help families stay together.

Just the other day, a woman walked into the lobby to surrender her cat. It’s not what she wanted to do, but “money was an issue.” Instead of watching heartbreak unfold, the cat lovers of St. Hubert’s instead made an offer the cat mom couldn’t refuse.

“We agreed to drive her a supply of food once a month and neutered her cat for free.”

Feeding the Furry Community

Cat rescue groups like St. Hubert’s often have limited resources, but initiatives like The Rescue Bank change everything. The devoted cat lovers of working for animal welfare report, “We run our food banks off of donations to the shelter. We have tripled the number of families and pets we are able to help when receiving the donations from Greater Good!”

Boy Boy the puppy and his family are among this number. After a fire ravaged their home, they called needing shelter for Boy Boy. St. Hubert’s had them covered.

“We helped her with food and all the supplies she needs for him. We will continue to do so all long as she needs us.”

St. Hubert’s also partners closely with Paterson Animal Control, supplying donations for drive-thru food banks held in their community. St Hubert’s shared, “They are in an underserved area were families need these services the most.”
