5 Disaster Preparedness Tips For Dog Owners

We have all seen the heartbreaking footage of beloved pets left behind when a natural disaster strikes. According to the Louisiana SPCA, over 50,000 pets were killed or stranded by Hurricane Katrina. Of the 15,500 rescued, less than 20% were reunited with their owners.

The vast majority of Katrina pets that found their way back to their owners had microchips. While this is an excellent first step, there is much more you can do to ensure your dog stays safe.

Check out our 5 disaster preparedness tips to ensure you and your pooch can get through anything.

Study Finds Dog Parks Are A Hotbed For Parasites

Dog parks across the country are slowly reopening giving quarantiners and their pups a much needed opportunity to exercise, socialize, and enjoy some fresh air. However, according to a recent study, park goers have more to worry about than social distancing.

Researchers took stool samples from 23,006 dogs across 288 parks in 30 metropolitan areas and the results were shocking.

Find out which intestinal parasites were identified and how likely your dog is to be exposed while enjoying the park.

This article delves into animal psychology, helping to explain why our pups develop certain personality traits.
