| November 8, 2015

Golden retrievers are known for being intelligent and easy to train (two reasons they are often used for service dog work).

This year, at the 2015 Crufts Dog Show, the Southern Golden Retriever Display Team wowed the audience with an impressive display of obedience on the part of dog and human!

The group is part of the Southern Golden Retriever Society, founded in 1977, is located in the United Kingdom and is “one of 13 breed clubs dedicated to the safeguard and perpetuation of the Breed. The Society strives to achieve the ideal of a true dual purpose dog,” their website explains.

This has got to be my favorite part of the drill…love it!

The Display team consists of 16 Goldens and their handlers, who practice on a basketball court in all weather to learn routines set to music.

The best part is to see all the relaxed faces and wagging tails of the dogs – they LOVE IT!

(note: the collars are not choke collars, but martingales – a type of “no slip” collar that prevents a dog from slipping out of the it)

Watch the entire drill below:

How amazing is that!? Can you get your dog to behave for a 12 minute performance? Most of us can’t get our dog to listen for a minute, let alone 12. Do you think your dog could do this?
