Top 10 Dog Names Of 2015

| Published on December 8, 2015

We can’t believe it’s almost 2016! As part of Rover.com’s, the nation’s AirBnb for dogs, year-end tradition, they just released the most popular dog names of 2015.

Among the dog name trends this year, naming dog’s “human” or “children” names is growing, probably as more and more dog owners consider themselves pet parents.

Another popular theme in dog names is pop culture. Dogs named after Hunger Games, Harry Potter and Star Wars are still big. Other, once popular dog names are on the downfall, including names from Twilight, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.

Food dog names are always popular. In fact, they make up the third most popular category according to Rover.com.

Then there are the techy dog names or dog names that have to do with marijuana. They are also popular, especially it seems in states where it’s NOT legal.

Finally, political pet names are always common and 90’s nostalgia is starting to crop up with dogs getting named after famous 90’s people, games and TV characters.

I think we would all be shocked if Bella ever lost its number one ranking. There are so many adorable Bellas out there, we are pretty sure this will always be the number one dog name. After all, it means “beautiful” — what else would you want to name your dog?
