Woman & Her 2 Dogs Are Rescued From Their Stranded Truck During Hurricane Harvey

| Published on August 26, 2017

Hurricane Harvey, which hit land yesterday, was the most powerful hurricane to hit the United States in more than a decade. Texas got hit hard, pummeling Rockport with 130+ mph winds. Widespread flooding is expected all along the Texas coast, and as of this writing, there is one confirmed death.

Not all the news is bad, though. Three Good Samaritans rescued a woman and her two dogs from a pickup truck that had become stranded in thigh-deep water in Rockport, Texas. Watch as one man helps the woman out of the car, another carries a medium-sized dog under each arm, and a third carries the woman’s belongings.

In Stinton, Texas, Tiele Dockens snapped this picture of her neighbor’s dog, Otis, roaming the streets with a full bag of dog food. Dockens reported that Otis made it safely back home after she took this picture.

Flooding is expected for the next week or so as rain continues to pound Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The full extent of the damage may not be known for awhile, though it’s safe to say there are scenes like the one below playing out all across the state.

Hopefully we’ll start to see more stories coming out about people helping each during and after the storm, and that is what Harvey will be remembered for.
