3 Great Ways To Strengthen Your Bond With Your Schnauzer

| March 1, 2017

Having a bond with your Schnauzer is very important if you want a relationship that does not frustrate you. Dogs that are not bonded to their people will not listen to cues or seek attention. You may even feel your dog doesn’t “like” you. The stronger the bond, the more likely your Schnauzer will do as you ask, pay attention to you even if there are high-value distractions (like a bunny!), and will be a better roommate all around. Wondering how to get that bond? The following are three great ways to strengthen your bond with your Schnauzer.

#1 – Learn Your Schnauzer’s Language

What better way to improve your relationship and deepen your bond than to understand your Schnauzer better? In order to do that, you need to learn how they communicate through body language. Dr. Sophia Yin’s website has a host of free body language posters that can help you learn to speak “dog,” which your Schnauzer will greatly appreciate.

#2 – Training

Schnauzers are smart and enjoy training! Training gives your Schnauzer the mental stimulation he needs while strengthening your relationship. When you and your Schnauzer train together, you are learning to communicate with each other and that goes a long way to great a lasting bond.

#3 – Play

Play is an easy and fun way to bond with your Schnauzer. Any game she enjoys is fine, just as long as you’re doing it together! Agility trainers encourage play with their students because they have found it creates dogs that listen better and work harder for their owners.
