3 Things All Boxer Owners Should Know

| February 8, 2017

Are you considering adding a Boxer to your home? Or maybe you have one and ponder if you are doing all the right things. Although basic dog care is pretty universal, there are a few things that can make sure your Boxer is getting the best care (and maybe even make your life a little easier!). The following are three things all Boxer owners should know.

#1 – Feed With Care

Bloat is a very real, very scary and often fatal emergency that Boxers are prone to if not fed in the correct way. Thankfully, bloat is easily avoided by feeding with care. Make sure you give your Boxer two or three smaller meals instead of one big one. Do not exercise vigorously right after feeding. Using an off-the-ground feeder and/or a slow-down bowl can also help prevent bloat.

#2 – They Require A Lot Of Attention

Boxers are not a “leave out outside” dog. They are prone to separation anxiety and do best when they can be with their family most of the day. Making time each day for your Boxer is a must.

#3 – A Chamois Can Bring Out That Coat Sheen

Boxers have a lustrous coat that just can shine as if coated in metallic. Wondering how some owner’s get that unbelievable shine? Aside from a good diet including supplements such as fish oil, rubbing your Boxer’s coat with a Chamois cloth can help bring out that beautiful sheen.
