Your Pug gives you unconditional love, constant amusement, and unwavering devotion. It’s no surprise that you want to do all you can to give him the best life ever. Fancy treats and that choice spot on the bed are important, but there are things you can do that will help your Pug even more by increasing their health and chances for a long life. The following are 3 great ways to keep your Pug happy and healthy.

#1 – Routine Cleaning Of Wrinkles

One of the biggest issues seen in Pugs is pyoderma, a bacterial infection in the folds of their face that causes blood-filled blisters. Keeping those wrinkles clean and dry will definitely make your Pug happier and healthier.

 

 

#2 – Exercise

Giving your Pug daily exercise to keep him trim is very important. Pugs are definitely prone to pudginess, and that does not help them breathe! Excess weight puts a strain on your Pug’s joints as well, so it’s best to keep him fit. Just be sure you are not exercising when it’s too hot, and never overexert your Pug.

#3 – Use a Harness

Pugs are prone to all kinds of breathing difficulties, so don’t make it worse by putting pressure on their trachea with a collar. Any collars, but especially choke and prong, can cause severe damage to your Pug’s neck and trachea. A well-fitted, V-neck harness that allows shoulder movement and frees the trachea is a much better choice to keep your Pug both happy and healthy.
