We love dogs for so many reasons, but mostly because they really are incredible animals. We’ve domesticated them, taught them to help work with us to make our lives safer and easier, and can have fun training and competing with them in a variety of internationally held dog sports. Most importantly, we can cuddle up with them in bed at the end of a long day. All dogs are amazing, but some dogs have expanded the boundaries with these 7 incredible feats! #1 – Most Times to Catch a Frisbee By a Dog in 3 Minutes
On October 8, 2017, Zachary Schultz and his dog, Oro, decided to attempt beating this record after Zachary and his wife timed Oro in their backyard and realized that she had a really great chance at beating it! Oro used to be afraid of the frisbees and would let them hit her in the nose, but now she’s the record holder at 20 frisbees in 3 minutes!
International agility competitor Zhu Pan and his Border Collie, M, previously set the record at 16 frisbees on December 8, 2011.
#2 – Longest Solid Object Swallowed by a Dog
In December 2000, Kyle, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Collie mix swallowed an entire bread knife. While Kyle only measured 18 inches long, the knife was a full 15 inches long! He was rushed to the veterinarian where the knife was removed, and Kyle is back to living a normal life at his home in the UK. – Source
#3 – Fastest 100 Meters Run With a Can Balanced on Head by a Dog
Probably a pretty strange feat, but leave it to Sweet Pea, a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd cross to run a full 100 meters in just 2 minutes and 55 seconds – balancing a can on her head the entire time! She and her owner Alex Rothaker made this world record a reality on September 3, 2008, in Illinois, USA.
#4 – Longest Dog Tongue Ever
The current holder of this record is Mochi, a St. Bernard from Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a licker that measures 7.31 inches! But his tongue isn’t the longest ever – that title still belongs to Brandy, a Boxer from Michigan, USA! She had the longest ever measured tongue on record – a solid 17 inches! Imagine those kisses!
#5 – Highest Jump by a Dog
We ask our dogs to jump constantly in a variety of dog sports and working jobs, but a rescue Greyhound named Feather set the current record at 75.5″ on September 14, 2017. That’s over six feet – meaning Feather could hop right over a full-grown person! Feather comes from a big family of exceptional dogs – her sister Geronimo holds the record for most skips by a dog. The previous record was held by another Greyhound named Cinderella May a Holly Grey leaped a solid 68 inches high!! She and her two owners competed on October 7, 2006, in Missouri, the USA at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge National Finals.
#6 – Loudest Bark by a Dog
The record for the loudest bark is one that I’m glad my dog doesn’t have! Charlie, a Golden Retriever from Australia is the proud record holder for Loudest Bark by a Dog. Charlie’s bark was measured at 113 dB on October 20, 2012! Wow!
The previous record was held by Daz, a white German Shepherd from the UK. On June 15, 2009, his bark measured 108 dB! It may not be the record anymore, but that’ll certainly wake up the neighborhood!
#7 – Most Tennis Balls Held in Mouth by a Dog
We all know that our dogs will gladly grab as many tennis balls as they can fit in their mouth – but have you ever wondered just how many they can stuff in there? Augie, an ambitious Golden Retriever from Texas, USA can hold five regulation-sized tennis balls at once!
#8 – Fastest Crossing of a Tightrope by a Dog
As a human, you might be able to stick out your tongue, bark, or hold a tennis ball in your mouth – but few people can ably walk a tightrope! This dog is able to – really fast and on four legs instead of two! Ozzy, a Border Collie/Kelpie mix set the record at 18.22 seconds on February 1, 2013. His proud papa was extremely pleased:
“It makes me feel so happy and proud, that Ozzy and I have such a strong friendship and relationship we can work together on tricks and games that get the recognition of Guinness World Records.”
#9 – Fastest Time to Pop 100 Balloons by a Dog
Balloon popping may seem easy, but you have to remember that dogs don’t have hands to hold a pin with. Toby, a Whippet, pops his ballons with his teeth, and when he does he turns into a little blur of fur! Toby holds the current record but held the previous record as well at 36.53 seconds. Right now, the record for Fastest Time to Pop 100 Balloons by a Dog stands at 28.22 seconds! He’s become more efficient!
#10 – Dog with Largest Repertoire of Tricks
According to Guinness, Chanda-Leah could play the piano, paint, ride a skateboard, and could retrieve nearly anything! This one tiny Poodle had more talents than many humans do. To earn her place in the 1999 Guinness Book of World Records, Chanda-Leah performed 469 unique tricks! No wonder her record hasn’t been broken yet — she’s a hard act to follow!
