Dogs are better than people at a lot of things. Inherent cuteness, sniffing out floor crumbs, and catching things in their mouths for starters. But did you know dogs can also be intimidatingly good at Jenga? Yep, I’m talking the classic balancing game of layered wooden blocks. Well, at least that’s the case with one specific dog: an Australian Shepherd named Secret.
Secret is a service dog to an 19-year-old woman named Mary. On their shared Instagram page, she posted a video of their recent Jenga match.
“I started teaching Secret Jenga a little while ago, and she’s finally getting the hang of it. She really enjoys games that require precision like this, so we’ve been having a lot of fun with it!”
I expected just some cute pawing and nibbling on game pieces. I couldn’t believe how good Secret really is at this game!
When I first watched the video, I actually thought it had frozen because Secret was moving so slowly and precisely with the block in her mouth. She really knows the value of patience when it comes to this game! Her tower never tumbles on her turn.
As a service dog, Secret is trained to help Mary manage her autism. They currently attend community college classes together. The two have also been inseparable best friends for the last 6 years.
It’s no secretthat Secret has a talent for Jenga. From her online presence, she really seems to be good at everything. She’s also apparently a skilled painter, Mary writes.
“It’s funny, she really has a mood for painting, sometimes I’ll get out her brush and she’ll look at me and walk off, and sometimes she’ll get right up and hurry over excited.”
And this adorable dog is more than beauty and brains. She’s an athlete too, capable of many different physical tasks including riding a skateboard.
Secret also dances and plays piano. There’s really no limit to her canine capabilities!
“My awesome best friend suggested I teach her to flip the piano sheet pages, so we’ve been working on it, and just started putting it together with some playing.”
It’s so great to know a dog as multitalented as this is using all her skills to help her person as a service dog. I know I’d challenge this good girl to a Jenga match any day!
