Like so many communities around the world, Louisiana shelters have seen a massive increase in surrendered dogs. The COVID-19 pandemic has ripped dogs from their homes, either due to financial strain or illness. Sadly, this has put shelters in the difficult position of making decisions to fight overcrowding. In many cases, this means ending innocent lives that still have so much love to give.
Sparky Dreams Of His Own Couch To Cuddle On With A Family That Loves Him
Sparky can’t talk, but his sad eyes say it all. Louisiana’s weather has been particularly harsh on him. As the temperatures dipped down below freezing, Sparky sought refuge on a woman’s patio couch. He was just struggling to keep warm. She would chase him away each day, but he always came back. Night after night, Sparky searched for a comfy spot to curl up and dream of someone to love him. Now Sparky is searching for a couch that he can keep warm on and a family that will love him forever.
You Can Help Put A Twinkle Back In Sparky’s Adorable Eyes
Thanks to people like you, there’s still hope for little love bugs like Sparky. On New Year’s Eve, iHeartDogs is sponsoring up to 100 homeless animals by sending them on a New Beginning Pet Rescue Flight. These pups will be flown from Louisiana to their second chance all the way up in Michigan.
The rescues and no-kill shelters where these dogs are destined all have open space and give them a significantly greater chance of adoption! These lucky dogs will be ringing in the new year with a new life thanks to the Second Chance Movement program from iHeartDogs.
As you sit on your comfy couch and read this in your warm home, think about this adorable little guy as he wandered the frozen streets looking for a little compassion. His past was heartbreaking but his future is bright. A little bit of love goes an incredibly long way – just ask Sparky.
