For stray dogs in impoverished communities, Animal Aid offers hope. They respond when an animal in need cries out, even if it means risking their own lives. A stray mother dog had recently gone into labor all by herself. Her puppy was stillborn and became stuck in the birth canal. The mama dog was in severe pain and was crying out for help. Thankfully a caring neighbor heard her sobbing and called Animal Aid, an animal rescue organization that helps strays in need. They promised to send volunteers immediately knowing the dog could lose her life.
The puppy had made it impossible for the mother to wiggle. Unable to move, she was panting heavily. The volunteer knew he had to get her into the clinic quickly or there might be more deliveries.

The rescuer named the dog Apricot, and after taking her to the clinic, he discovered she had other puppies inside of her. She was put under heavy sedation and a c-section was performed, and Apricot recovered quickly.
