Belle, a traumatized Husky, and Winston, a blind Chihuahua, were found wandering through a blizzard. The Husky was the Chihuahua’s guide dog and wore a cowbell around her neck, so he knew where she was at all times and followed her lead.

When the dogs were found, Belle was lying on top of Winston, protecting him from the cold and the rescuers she did not trust. Both pups ended up at animal control several times before the blizzard. The last time, the owners decided not to claim them.

Their new foster mom, Stephanie, quickly learned that Belle didn’t trust humans at all. When Stephanie tried to approach her, she’d snarl. She gave the pup time and space, hoping she’d come around when ready. After hard work and patience, Belle finally came to her foster mom on her own. There was no way Stephanie could let her go now! Belle’s adoption became official! And so did Winston’s!

Belle’s nurturing side isn’t limited to Winston. The family also fosters bunnies and kittens, and Belle loves to claim them as her own. She even lays on top of them gently when Stephanie tries to pick them up and take them away from her. It’s utterly adorable. You have to meet Belle for yourself in the video below. She’s one amazing dog!
