The video states, “Absence makes the hound grow fonder,” which certainly plays true for this story! Marine Sgt. Jacob Varela proudly served with K9 Officer Atilla. The German Shepherd worked in special ops with Varela at his side. When Varela’s tour was over, he came back to the States, but Atilla continued working until it was time for retirement. Varela hasn’t seen him in years!
When Varela found out that Atilla was ready to retire, he wanted nothing more than to adopt him. Their everlasting bond could never be broken! Mission K-9 Rescue tries to reunite dogs with their handlers once they can no longer work. Varela was thrilled to get the call stating Atilla was his if he wanted him. Sgt. Jacob Varela jumped for joy and asked when and where he could pick him up.
The plan was in place and when Varela spotted his canine best friend in the airport, he dashed toward him, fell to his knees, and hugged him. The reunion video is too precious to miss! Thank you for your service, Sgt. Jacob Varela and K9 Officer Atilla!
