After six years apart, a heartwarming reunion took place between Steven, a former inmate, and Pavlov, the dog he trained while incarcerated. The two had not seen each other since Steven’s release, but their bond remained strong thanks to a program called New Leash on Life. This program pairs at-risk dogs with inmates, providing a win-win situation for both the dogs and their trainers.

Pavlov was found wandering the streets and brought to Animal Control. He was skinny and had a terrible coat. New Leash on Life pulled him into their program, where he was paired with Steven. The two lived together, ate together, and did everything together. Over time, Pavlov began to listen to Steven, and the two formed a strong bond.

When Steven was released, he was unsure of where he would be living and couldn’t take Pavlov with him. He worried about Pavlov finding a home, but fortunately, Pavlov was adopted by Marina, who fell in love with him at first sight. Marina and Steven became Facebook friends, and she would send him pictures of Pavlov, but they had never met in person.

The reunion took place six years later at Animal Control, where Pavlov and Steven spent much of their time together and where Steven is now an animal control officer. The moment they saw each other, it was clear that their connection was still strong. Steven remembered Pavlov’s quirks, and Pavlov remembered his former trainer.

Marina expressed her gratitude to Steven for training Pavlov and said she would love for him to be in Pavlov’s life. Steven is now available for dog-sitting duties and looks forward to spending more time with Pavlov in the future.
