After a month-long investigation, Stephanie E. Fields, 40, of London, Kentucky has been arrested by the Kentucky State Police on charges of animal cruelty. Fields was the Director of Homeward Bound Animal Rescue, which she apparently ran from her own home. The police became aware of the situation when complaints were filed about the dogs by neighbors. During the original seizure on November 24, 2015, thirty dogs were taken from the inside of Fields’ home. Outside the home, another 130 dogs were left.

The house itself, Fields told the police, had been condemned two years ago, but she continued to live it with the animals.
It had no running water and no electricity. The house was full of fifth and animal waste.
“A trooper investigating the home said that this is the worst case of animal cruelty that he’s ever seen,” Melanie Kendall, for ABC36, reported.
On Thursday, the police seized the 130 dogs that were living outside and arrested Fields on charges of Cruelty to Animals, 2nd degree.

The dogs were taken to the Laurel County Animal Rescue. As of the writing of this story, the dogs are not adoptable because they are considered evidence in the case. However, they said the dogs appear to be friendly and none were in terrible shape.
