When it comes to the bond between a child and a dog, it’s hard to find a more heartwarming example than that of Annaleah and her gentle Pit Bull, Eros. Despite the bad reputation that often surrounds Pit Bulls, Eros proves that love and compassion can break through even the toughest of stereotypes. Annaleah and Eros formed a beautiful relationship from the moment she was born. Even as a young infant, Annaleah would lay on Eros, and the gentle giant would simply look back at her and lovingly lick her face. While Eros is more than happy to roughhouse with the adults in the family, he instinctively knows to be gentle and patient with Annaleah, allowing her to do whatever she pleases.
Every morning, Annaleah takes it upon herself to clean Eros’s face with baby wipes, carefully tending to his eyes, nose, mouth, and even his tail. She loves to play fetch with him, and Eros patiently waits for her to throw the ball, even allowing her to take it right out of his mouth.
Eros’s gentle nature isn’t just limited to his interactions with Annaleah. After a car accident left his mom, Marina, with chronic pain, Eros became an emotional support animal. He is always by her side when she’s in pain or not feeling well. He waits until she falls asleep before going to bed himself and even accompanies the family on flights to provide emotional support.
The family believes that Eros knew about the pregnancy before they even took the test. As Marina’s belly grew, Eros became more protective and careful around her despite his usually clumsy nature. When Annaleah was finally brought home, Eros immediately took on the role of protector and caretaker, licking her face as if she were the sweetest candy.
It was clear that Eros would be amazing with Annaleah, as he had already shown his gentle nature to Marina’s nephew, who is only two months older than Annaleah. Eros would come up to the baby, sniff and lick him, and always want to be around him, acting like a “nanny dog.”
Annaleah is not talking much yet, as she’s learning three languages, but she already knows Eros and is learning compassion and caring from him. As a “fur mom,” Marina couldn’t be happier with the bond between her daughter and their gentle Pit Bull, Eros.
