You Helped This Former Bait Dog Discover Love After Being Thrown Out A Car Window

When you shop at the iHeartDogs store, some of that money goes to Greater Good Charities, an organization that supports lots of animals in need. Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program donates meals and other essential supplies to animal shelters and rescues. Those donations can be life-saving for many dogs, including an abandoned former bait dog named Duke.

Poor Duke faced some of the most horrific circumstances early in his life. Someone dumped him out of a moving car at a busy intersection. The car slowed down and someone threw the innocent pup out the window without coming to a complete stop. Someone from Helping Paws Animal Rescue in Oklahoma rushed to save him, and they found that he was extremely frail and covered in “road rash” from sliding on the bumpy asphalt road.

Rescue dog in the car

Duke’s rescuers suspected that he was used as a bait dog before being dumped. Bait dogs are chained up during dog fights so the fighting dogs can attack them over and over again. It’s a horrific situation that no dog should have to go through.

Despite being used for dog fighting, Duke didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He has been super sweet to every human and animal he interacts with.

Duke Discovers Love

Since being rescued, Duke has learned that humans and dogs can be nice, and he gets more comfortable every day. He will sometimes even let little dogs use him as a pillow or a stepping stool.

Duke rescues Greater Good

“He is the most loyal companion!” Helping Paws Animal Rescue wrote. “He is up for anything at any time. Car rides, golf cart rides, and toys! He loves helping with chores, which means he just lays in my path.”

The GOODS Program helps rescues like this one feed the dogs in their care. Because of those food donations, rescues can save money on meals and use their funds for other areas of care such as veterinary needs. Thus, they’re able to bring more dogs from rags to riches than they normally would.

If you buy products from the iHeartDogs store, you’re helping dogs like Duke finally experience the love they deserve. These donations can be life-changing for canines with rough pasts, so thank you to all the heroes who have purchased products to help dogs in need.
