Frankie, a five-week-old Pit Bull puppy, experienced rejection for the first time when his family abandoned him. They left him in a Pampers diaper box on a property in Buffalo, New York. Peeking out from the box, his eyes, filled with longing, scanned his surroundings, hoping for a savior. That savior came in the form of Robin, a local business owner, who was shocked to find the adorable puppy outside her store. Immediately, she scooped up the little one, assuring him of safety and care. Feeling the warmth of Robin’s kindness, Frankie sensed he was finally in safe hands. Robin, a supporter of West Side Cat Rescue, reached out to the shelter for help.
Jamie Mulligan, the founder of West Side Cat Rescue, took the call. It seemed apparent to Jamie that whoever had left Frankie outside Robin’s store knew that this act would lead to his rescue, given the reputation of the place. They rescue agreed to take Frankie in, choosing not to send him to an already overcrowded shelter where his fate could be uncertain, especially given the surplus of Pit Bulls often overlooked for adoption.
After a trip to the veterinarian, Frankie was placed in a loving foster home with Jamie’s daughter. The pup quickly stole his foster mom’s heart. She gave him a new name to celebrate his new life, Percy. Jamie’s daughter, overwhelmed by love for the little puppy, decided it was time for a new beginning for both of them and officially adopted him.
In the comfort of his forever home, wrapped in the love of his new family, Percy’s puppy eyes sparkled with happiness. He knew he had found his happily ever after, a life filled with the love and safety he had always deserved.
