Sometimes, due to unforeseen circumstances in life, some dog owners face the gut-wrenching decision to give up their beloved pets to shelters. Bella and Bobby were overwhelmed with sadness and heartache when they were left at a shelter’s doorstep. Huddled together in a small pink crate, the two dogs were visibly shaken and unsure about their new environment. One morning, a Pennsylvania SPCA clinic staffer arrived to find the unexpected crate. Curious and concerned, they hurried to investigate. The note attached to the crate moved them deeply.

The previous owner had written that it was their final day in their home and they had no other options for their dogs. “I love them so much. Please take care of them and find them a nice home,” the note pleaded. Upon reading these words, the staffer looked into Bella and Bobby’s eyes, seeing their distress and confusion.

Inside the shelter, the staffer cared for the two eight-year-old Chihuahuas, providing them with food and water. Bella and Bobby seemed to wait anxiously for a familiar face to appear and take them back home.

The shelter staff did their best to comfort the two dogs, hoping they would adjust to their new reality. The story of Bella and Bobby resonated deeply within the shelter community. The staff grew to adore the pair, showering them with affection to help ease their fears.

Gradually, Bella and Bobby began to feel more at ease, realizing they were in caring hands. As they became more accustomed to the shelter, their anxious expressions softened and their nervousness diminished. They started to feel secure and loved again. Their charming personalities began to shine through, endearing them further to everyone at the shelter. Once ready for a more permanent arrangement, the shelter started the search for a foster home for the duo.

Merida is a senior who was found abandoned in a backyard with her sibling who had passed away. She was left to fend for herself as an 11-year-old with diabetes. Thankfully, Kanoa Rescue Foundation stepped in to save her, but she still needs your help!

EnVi Dog Rescue and Animal Sanctuary in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, which focuses on seniors, special needs, and hospice cases, learned of the Chihuahuas’ plight and was compelled to act. They committed to finding Bella and Bobby a forever home, welcoming them into their care.

The dogs quickly adapted to their foster home, enjoying the comfort and companionship of their new caregivers. They looked forward to interacting with potential adopters, hopeful for a family that would love them forever. We have no doubt these two sweet pups will find the perfect home soon!
