As a group of kind-hearted individuals was returning from the funeral of their beloved rescue dog, they received a heartbreaking call about a Pomeranian puppy found abandoned on the street. The tiny dog was alone and frightened, with one eye protruding. The caller was unsure if she had been abused or injured in a car accident, but it was clear that the puppy urgently needed help. Despite the freezing weather, the team rushed to the scene, hoping the poor dog hadn’t been left in the cold for too long.
Upon arrival at the 24-hour emergency hospital, the little Pomeranian was immediately treated and tested for diseases. Fortunately, the tests revealed there were no health issues. However, her eye injury was severe, and surgery would be necessary to remove it. They hoped it wasn’t a case of abuse, but it was clear that the dog had been suffering for quite some time. Blood tests before surgery showed high inflammation markers, and an eye ultrasound confirmed she had glaucoma with extremely high intraocular pressure. Her eye protrusion had been present for a while, and if she had been found sooner, she might not have needed to lose her eye.
It became clear that this little dog had been neglected, whether lost, abandoned, or abused and then abandoned. Left without the medical care she desperately needed, her neglect was a form of abuse. The team concluded that her case was one of cruelty and abandonment. However, her story took a positive turn. They named her Hug, and she became a cherished member of their family.
After undergoing eye removal surgery, Hug has been recovering at their partner hospital. Despite her troubled past, she’s adjusting remarkably well. Though she remains wary of men and tends to bark when she sees them, Hug is gradually learning to trust again. She has since moved to her forever home, where she underwent further surgeries, including spaying.
Initially, Hug seemed calm and quiet, but she soon surprised everyone with her vibrant personality. Now, Hug is flourishing, enjoying the sunshine, perfectly potty trained, loving human touch, and savoring tasty treats.
Though she’s still figuring out how to play with toys and interact with other dogs, her clumsy and endearing nature shines through. She observes the other dogs, follows them around, and often falls asleep on her human’s lap, taking each new experience step by step.
While her full past may never be known, watching Hug relish in her new life is all that matters now. The tiny pup may have suffered, but those days are over… for good!
