This Little Girl Creates Beautiful Handcrafted Bookmarks To Save Dogs

A 7-year-old girl is helping dogs in her own way–she makes beautiful handcrafted bookmarks and uses the earnings to help rescue dogs.

Her name is Tegen Rhind. Tegen heard about the dog who had been shot by an arrow and was saddened by the news. She and her family are dog lovers and they have two rescue dogs of their own. The dog shot by an arrow was needing help for his medical bills.

The dog, now named Arrow, was a stray dog and someone found her with an arrow pierced on her back. Arrow was then rescued by CC RezQs Regina, helping her get medical care.

Tegen then decided to sell bookmarks to help raise money to help with the dog’s medical bills. She has been learning how to sew from her mother Brie, and now she is using that skill to make beautiful bookmarks.

Tegen does her part in making the bookmarks by making the patterns and the designs, matching the colors, and she also does some of the sewing.

Caillin Rodonets of CC RezQs and Arrow surprised Tegen at her school this morning! Tegen was over the moon! Arrow seemed drawn to Tegen too!

In just one day, they were able to make 38 bookmarks. And their hardwork paid off! A lot of people supported them and they were able to meet the $1000 goal for Arrow!

Well I bought the Leader Post today! She made the front page! I’m also seeing a hashtag in her name! #HeroTegen It’s so wonderful to see all the support for Arrow!

But Tegen is not stopping there. She wants to help more dogs, so she and her mother will continue making bookmarks to help the dogs at CC RezQs Regina.

Isn’t this little girl amazing?! She’s already so compassionate and dedicated to helping animals in such a young age!

You can show your support for Tegen by checking out her bookmarks at her Facebook Page. Bookmark sales will resume when classes are over. For now, Tegen is focusing on her school work.
