The footage was recorded by journalist Roman Camacho, who documented the rescue while firefighters continued searching the damaged building in Caracas’ Pinto Salinas neighborhood.
According to Camacho, the puppy had been trapped beneath the collapsed building until firefighters reached its location.
“Here are the rescue teams that have just pulled a small dog out from the rubble where it was trapped,” Camacho says in the video. “Capital District firefighters, always the heroes in stories like this, are working tirelessly to extract survivors from the debris.”
He later explained that the puppy had been found yelping from beneath the wreckage before rescuers carefully lifted it free.
“The small dog was found amidst the rubble, yelping,” Camacho says. “It is currently being treated.”

After the rescue, the puppy was taken into the care of the Caracas Fire Department, according to Storyful. While details about its owner or how long it had been trapped remain unknown, the little survivor quickly became a symbol of hope during an otherwise heartbreaking disaster.
