For much of her young life, Paisley had little reason to know what it felt like to truly belong. The two-year-old Pit Bull mix had already been bred repeatedly before she arrived at a rural shelter, where she watched people come and go without choosing her. Day after day, Paisley waited behind the shelter doors while other animals found homes. Still, beneath everything she had experienced was a friendly, affectionate dog who seemed ready to trust people and begin again. All she needed was someone willing to finally see her.

That opportunity came when the Humane Society of Broward County welcomed Paisley into its care. In her new surroundings, staff members had the chance to discover the sweet personality that had been hidden behind her difficult past.

Paisley was affectionate, social, and eager for attention. Despite everything she had experienced at such a young age, she had plenty of love left to give. Before long, someone noticed.

The Moment Paisley Had Been Waiting For

When Paisley finally found her special person, there was little doubt that she understood something wonderful was happening. On the day she was scheduled to leave the shelter, her excitement seemed impossible to contain. Her tail began wagging, but soon that was not enough. Her whole body started wiggling as she prepared to walk through those doors for the last time.

A video shared by the shelter captured the joyful moment. Paisley eagerly hurried outside, pulling a staff member along as she made her way toward her new mom. There was no hesitation. After spending so much time waiting to be chosen, Paisley appeared ready to embrace her new life with everything she had.

Her adoption was especially meaningful because Paisley still had another challenge ahead. She tested positive for heartworm disease, a serious condition that requires veterinary treatment and careful management.

Her new family is working alongside the shelter to make sure Paisley receives the treatment and support she needs as she recovers. Instead of facing that journey from a shelter kennel, she can now go through it surrounded by people committed to caring for her.

For a dog whose early life was filled with uncertainty, that sense of security may be one of the greatest gifts of all. Paisley’s future now looks remarkably different from her past. Her days can be filled with comfortable places to rest, toys to play with, belly rubs, affection, and the simple comfort of knowing she has a family waiting for her.

The little dog who once watched potential adopters pass by finally experienced the moment shelter animals spend their days hoping for. Paisley walked out the door not simply as another dog leaving a kennel, but as a beloved member of a family beginning a new chapter. Her joyful wiggles said what words never could. After everything Paisley had been through, she finally knew she was going home.

@humanebroward Paisley was adopted!! 🙌❤️ And she wiggled all the way home 🥹 We couldn’t be happier for this sweet girl and her new mom! This adorable 2-year-old came to us after being overlooked at a rural shelter and spending much of her life being used for breeding. Through it all, she never stopped being gentle, loving, and full of joy. All Paisley wanted was someone to love, some belly rubs, and a family to finally call her own. And now, she has exactly that. 🥰 A huge thank you to @dollys_dream_ for covering her fee and sending her home with goodies and to Paisley’s new family for giving this deserving girl the fresh start she has always deserved. We know she is going to be so spoiled and so loved. ❤️ Paisley is also heartworm positive, and her new family is giving her the chance to heal while surrounded by love. Thanks to them, and with treatment provided by the shelter, she has such a bright future ahead. 💕 While we’re celebrating Paisley’s new beginning, so many other wonderful pets are still waiting for theirs.
