While it’s true we all spoil our dogs, we think it’s safe to say that Dug, owned by Steve Minty, might just be the most spoiled dog of them all.
Minty’s best friend Estaban Gomez submitted his friend (and his dog!) to “Super-Fan Builds”, a biweekly YouTube show that brings Hollywood set makers and fans together to create incredible movie-themed creations for the home. “Super-Fan Builds” is part of the AWE me Channel by BREAK.
If you haven’t already guessed, Minty is a huge fan of the Disney Pixar’s animated film UP! He even named his rescue dog Dug, after the dog in the movie. So it seemed fitting to make Dug an UP! Doghouse and the ridiculously talented builders at Tim Baker Creations more than surpassed expectations.
The House
Just how exactly did they make those balloons?!
The shingles were cut by hand and then hand glued on…
The paint job is crazy accurate…
With no detail forgotten…
The final product is quite possible more impressive than the original because it’s real!
Dug Certainly seems to like her new home!
And why wouldn’t she?

“Superfan nominations are accepted via email at superfanbuilds@break.com,” says James E. Wade, Showrunner – “Super-Fan Builds.” “We’ve received thousands of email nominations covering hundreds of different pop culture properties and we have read through every one of them.”
He goes on to explain what they are looking for when they chose a super-fan:
When looking for a superfan we look for the most enthusiastic fans that have a genuine connection and love for the specific pop culture property they’ve been nominated for. The fan might have the biggest collection of memorabilia, or they’ve been inspired to create their own artwork and costumes, or they might know every minute detail about the world their favorite characters inhabit. But there is always something that makes them stick out from the rest of the nominees. It’s also helpful when the nominations include specific ideas that we can build or other things the nominees are interested in to help us come up with the best item to build for them.
“This is the first doghouse that we have built but based on fan response it probably won’t be our last,” Wade says.
But don’t email them and say you want one just like it! Wade says a big part of this is having showing off the builder’s diverse skill range, so they don’t want to do projects that are too similar to ones they have already one.
“If the right comes across for the right property and it’s something we’re excited about building we’ll just wait for enough time to pass before we do it,” he adds.
