While most owners keep up daily walks and cuddle time, we can often get distracted by life and start spending a little less time with our dogs. But with more and more places becoming dog-friendly, there are plenty of reasons to take your pup somewhere special.  Even though we might find ourselves not wanting to miss out on fun with friends and family, it’s important to make sure we take the time to give our dogs the attention they need. Plus, dogs don’t need fancy dinners, a short hike or game of fetch will do! So if you’re making plans for the weekend, try thinking about taking your dog on a date, because there are plenty of reasons it’s a great idea.

#1 – You’ll Both Be Happier

Science has proven time and again that dog owners are happier overall than those with no pets. Dogs have a way of reducing anxiety and depression, even when medication and therapy doesn’t work. But you won’t be the only one that’s happier. Your dog will enjoy new outings and places just as much as you do and you’ll see a change in their overall demeanor when they start having more fun.

#2 – You’ll Both Be Healthier

Because dogs reduce stress and depression, they reduce blood pressure and improve heart health. Plus, taking your dog out will often mean you’ll be doing a lot of walking, in which case both you and your dog will benefit from some extra physical activity.

#3 – A More Active Social Life

It’s been found that dog owners have more active social lives than those without pets. It makes sense, too, because your dog might introduce you to new people and even be a topic of conversation.

#4 – You’ll Feel More Relaxed

Petting and walking dogs has shown to relieve stress, so taking your dog on a date to spend some quality time together will almost certainly leave you feeling better than you were when you started the day. Besides, you’re far less likely to get into a petty argument with your dog!

#5 – Build A Stronger Bond

Dogs and their owners bond in many special ways and it’s important to make sure you keep that bond strong. Spending quality time with your dog will bring you closer together and make you both happier. Dogs provide a feeling of safety and comfort, as well as a unique and silly form of friendship.
